Resources: Lean Library browser extension

Lean Library is a browser extension available to download on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera and Safari browsers.

It does not currently work on mobile devices or tablets and you'll need to download to your own laptop or PC, rather than a ULaw machine.

Download Lean Library

Once you've downloaded the extension and added it to your browser, search for and select "The University of Law".

Remember to pin it to your browser for easier access.

Lean Library will then automatically pop up when you're on a site with content provided by the Library or will direct you to alternative sites to access resources where available.

Lean Library makes it easier for you to access online library resources, such as articles, eBooks and databases, without needing to go to the library website first. If you're on a site that contains content that we have access to via the library, a pop-up will appear and prompt you to log in. After just a couple of clicks, you'll be able to access!

When you're on a site which the library doesn't provide access to, Lean Library will also automatically search for any alternative free versions, either on different sites or Open Access versions, and display links to these in the pop-up.

Other features of Lean Library include:

• streamline access to library content without going via ELITE or the library website
• reduce the number of clicks it takes to log in and access library resources
• automatically detect when you can access content via the library when using Google & other search engines, or when using sites like Amazon
• let you search UDiscover from any webpage - simply highlight a word or phrase, right click and select 'Search in UDiscover'
• show results from UDiscover library search alongside your Google search results
• display messages from the Library on some external sites to help you search for and access content
• show citations for the content you are accessing, including in OSCOLA (remember to check these if using in your work!)
• automatically add 'Find It @ ULaw' links to Google Scholar
